Back in the early 1920’s Thirroul used to have a rock pool at the southern end of Thirroul Beach rocky shelf; it was 75 x 50 feet wide.
The pool was constructed by 50 volunteer workers opening in late October 1923; you can still see the remains of the old pool from the top of Cliff Parade Thirroul if you look down.

The above picture is a smaller rock pool within metres of the original larger rock pool.
