I woke up to a red sun this morning at Thirroul Beach due to the number of local bushfires/smoke haze present across northern Illawarra of New South Wales.

The smoke haze throughout December 2019 in Thirroul has been quite intense, with visibility, on certain days down to 500 metres. Depending on the thickness of the smoke haze at sunrise, the sun, a ball of red to orange quite spectacular to witness and photograph. The escarpment is not visible from Thirroul Beach, a rare sight.
