Illawarra Flame Trees are one of my favourite trees; there planted right across Thirroul and throughout the shopping village.
They produce masses of bell-shaped scarlet flowers, putting on their best display maybe once every five years. This colour appears late in the year, around October to December; it’s a real treat.
