1. How long has Thirroul Dental Care been established in Thirroul?
In 1983 John Coby established Thirroul Dental Care, and I took over the business from him in 2003. The business expanded rapidly we moved into our current site at Raymond Road in 2008. This year we celebrate 20 years of running the practice and 40 years of Thirroul Dental Care serving the community.
2. Why did you become a Dentist?
My father was a Taxi Driver, & he and my mother were big believers in education. They encouraged my siblings and me to be the best we can.
I had a lot to do with Dentists when I was younger, so in High School, I made it my goal to become a Dentist. It would be a rewarding profession that would benefit the community. So far, that has proven to be correct.
3. Do you have any hobbies or other interests?
All my patients know that I am a huge Football and Rugby fan. I am a Sydney FC member and a huge fan of Chelsea in the English Premier League. In the NRL, I am a big fan of the NZ Warriors, even though I am not a Kiwi, and the way they play sometimes has me questioning my sanity! On the weekends, I spend most of my time with my wife & three teenage daughters, watching movies, walking our pet Cavoodle and spending time with family and friends.
4. Have you or your business supported any community events?
Over the years, Thirroul Dental Care has aimed to give back, and we love to support the community through annual events such as the Thirroul Seaside Festival and sponsorships and donations to Thirroul Public School, Thirroul Womens Bowling club, Thirroul women’s Thunderbirds soccer team, Woonona Lions Club, Austinmer Dance Theatre & Thirroul Life Saving Club.
5. Do you employ staff?
We have a fantastic team at Thirroul Dental Care, including myself, Dr Alan Ghosn, and fantastic Dental Hygienist Sarah Picciloni. Alan and I have over 20 years of experience practising varied Dentistry, ensuring our patients get the best dental care. Our support staff provide a warm and friendly environment making patient visits as comfortable as possible.
6. Best describe your business services.
Our services include General Dentistry, Orthodontic treatment & Invisalign, Cosmetic dentistry, Surgical treatment and Dental implants. We strive to work along with our patients to fulfil their dental needs and reach whatever goals they may have regarding their dental health and hygiene. I am grateful for having an amazing team around me and a fantastic clientele that makes my job easy.
Summary
I enjoy the village atmosphere here in Thirroul, the sense of community, the stunning natural surroundings and the time away from the hustle and bustle of a city, so I was keen to make this my work life home.
